Who is the Air Swimmer Shark suitable for?

According to many reviews I have read both children and adults love this toy. One person even stated that most adults use a four letter word the first time they see it (maybe he just has foul mouthed friends). The point I think he was trying to make is that the toy is certainly astonishing, and will amaze both children and adults. In fact you can see a smile on every one of these adults’ faces, so I am sure kids would love this toy

Word of Caution for the Air Swimmer Shark

While reading through many reviews I did find a few points that should be considered before purchasing the flying shark. The first one is that it IS filled with helium so it will float. If filled properly it should sit perfectly still in the air (not sink, or float) however if you take it outside on a slighty breezy day there is a chance you could lose it, as seen here

Setting up and maintaining the Flying Shark

Assembling the Air Swimmer does take a little bit of work, but once you have it all put together it is ready to use for good. Luckily there is a video that details how to assemble the Air swimmer shark, so all you need to do is follow along and you will be set.

When it comes to helium you can have it filled at any florist, or even buy your own mini tank of helium (just don’t let the kids get their hands on it to make smurf voices) The helium will slowly escape just like any balloon, but you should only need to top it up once every week or so.

Durability of the Air Swimmer Shark

The flying shark and the flying clownfish are both fairly durable. keep in mind they are made to be very light, and because they are inflatable you should keep them away from sharp objects. The toy is made to swim / fly through the air and it does not move very fast so you should not have any problems crashing it or breaking anything.

Cautions

People living at high altitudes should check before purchasing (5500 ft above sea level or more) the air swimmers may not work properly at high altitude as the air is thinner and this may interfere with it’s ability to float.

You should also ensure you have some room to fly it, if you live in a tiny apartment you will need to move to the hallway or stairwell to fly the Air swimmer as it is fairly big in size.

Remember there will be some added costs because you will have to purchase helium or pay for someone to fill the air swimmer shark.

On the Air swimmer shark Amazon page the average rating from 20 people is a 4 stars out of 5, however a few of the low ratings are in part because of the once higher pricing. Now that the price is lower I think the older ratings would have been higher. Overall I would give the Air Swimmer shark a 9 out of 10

This is the “extreme” or giant air swimmer shark, it is bigger than the normal model, I have included a video for reference.

This toy should be available in most stores by christmas, good stores to check would be toys r us and wal-mart. If you can find them in the stores then you will be lucky as they may be hard to come by. I can see these being one of those “hot toys” for 2011 and it may be very hard to find them on the shelves. My suggestion is to check the links I gave you above and see if there are any available.

The nice thing about buying online is that you have a good selection and you can also usually get free shipping as long as you live in the United States. If you are in Canada the toys might not even be available in stores so you may have to buy them online.

Why are air swimmers so popular?

These toys are popular because of a few things. I think the first and most important factor is because they are new, there is nothing else like this out there, so everyone will want to get the newest and hottest items. The other factor is that nothing like this has been done before, sure there are remote control planes and rc helicopters, but there has never been a remote control blimp, let a lone one that looks like a fish and swims through the air!
